Explore Bansko and Razlog, or plan a separate mountain outing in Pirin. Return to Semkovo afterwards.

## Bansko beyond the gondola

Bansko in winter, with the Pirin peaks beyond.

Give Bansko a day in ordinary shoes. The old streets, **Holy Trinity Church**, house museums and a long tavern lunch make a welcome change from mountain paths. Choose a couple of interiors and leave time for coffee rather than trying to visit every museum.

The useful addresses are **Velyan's House, 5 Velyan Ognev Street**; **Neofit Rilski House Museum, 17 Pirin Street**; **Nikola Vaptsarov Museum, 3 Nikola Vaptsarov Square**; and the **Bansko Art School icon exhibition, 3 Yane Sandanski Street**. Museum opening days and lunch breaks differ, so establish the day's order on arrival. Holy Trinity stands in the old-town centre, close to the Neofit Rilski house.

Eat in a **mehana**, the traditional tavern, and ask what regional food is cooking that day. Shops, cafés and the bustle of people passing through can be as enjoyable as another view. At the end of the day, return to your apartment in Semkovo.

Bansko also makes a full **ski excursion**. Check operating lifts and runs before leaving, allow for the drive and agree the return to Coliving. The slopes deserve their own day.

## Razlog

Razlog lends itself to a quieter half-day: errands, local history and lunch. The **Historical Museum**, in the Parapunov house at **12–14, 15 Septemvri 1903 Square**, explores the valley through objects, clothing and domestic life. **[+359 878 920 530](tel:+359878920530); [info@razlogmuseum.org](mailto:info@razlogmuseum.org).** Open **Monday–Friday 08:00–17:00 in winter, 08:00–17:30 in summer**, plus **summer weekends 10:00–16:00**. Adult entry is **€2**, or **€3 for the combined two-museum ticket**; ask about the other exhibition space when buying.

Pair Razlog with Banya's pools or a village visit. Golfers can arrange visitor tee times or lessons at **Pirin Golf**, west of Razlog: **[+359 884 540 404](tel:+359884540404) / [+359 885 535 506](tel:+359885535506); [proshop@piringolf.bg](mailto:proshop@piringolf.bg)**. The resort location is **[41.85445° N, 23.40612° E](https://www.openstreetmap.org/?mlat=41.85445&mlon=23.40612#map=16/41.85445/23.40612)**; agree the club meeting point and current green fee directly.

## Pirin: choose the access point first

Pirin looks close from the basin, but it deserves a full mountain day. Walks around **Vihren and Banderitsa** need transport from Bansko, an early start and a route suited to the weather. Keep town sightseeing for another day if the high ground is your aim.

A different approach runs through **Dobrinishte** to **Gotse Delchev Hut**, the lower station of the **Bezbog chairlift** at about **1,485 metres**. The ride takes roughly **27 minutes**, with a change en route, and reaches **Bezbog Hut** around **2,240 metres**. Establish the season's operation, ticket price and last descent before driving up: **[+359 7447 2120](tel:+35974472120); [hoteldobrinishte@yahoo.com](mailto:hoteldobrinishte@yahoo.com)**.

The lake beside Bezbog Hut is a rewarding destination in its own right. **Popovo Lake** and the higher peaks require more walking time and suitable mountain conditions. Protect the return lift with a firm turnaround time. You may have saved the climb, but you are still high in the mountains: carry proper footwear and warm layers.
